Russia had no interest in and did not want to invade Ukraine but they were forced to attack
As many have exposed, Russia’s take-over (or rather take-back) of Crimea in 2014 and the attack on Donbas in 2022 did not have the intention to “invade” Ukraine and “conquer” the country, but just Russia’s need and intention to secure the only always ice-free outlet to the sea. This is an essential strategical issue for Russia and well known by USUK, EU and NATO alike. As long as Ukraine would remain neutral there was no threat of Russia loosing this outlet. That’s why Crimea and Ukraine were and are the red line for Russia. Only when this red line was crossed by USUK and friends Russia saw itself forced to take action.
When Gorbachov one-sidedly tried to end the cold war NATO should have dissolved
When Gorbachov wisely and one-sidedly tried to end the cold war, following his Glasnost and Perestroika, by dissolving the Warsaw pact and withdraw troops in 1991, the US, under the coverage of NATO support, immediately began drawing and executing plans to drag the old Warsaw pact countries into NATO, even if the agreement with Gorbachov was precisely not to do so and even if NATO had actually lost its reason for existence.
The betrayal of this and other agreements by USUK, EU and NATO alike is what forced Russia to defend itself. Objectively, one cannot deny there was a clear strategical reason for this. But even more so, a moral reason, given the constant breach of agreements by the US and its allies since Gorbachov’s Soviet/Russian one-sided initative to end the cold war in 1991. Instead of being replied with an equivalent dissolution of NATO and the full withdrawal of all US military forces and weaponry from all European countries starting in 1991, the US, under lame NATO and EU coverage, only increased military presence in Europa and on an increasing number of territories.
Over two decades USUK, EU and NATO alike had made it clear they could not be trusted while, at the same time, creating a constantly growing military threat ever closer to the Russian border. Even so and fortulately, Putin did not histerically reply right away by shooting first to ask questions later as any random USAmerican (or EU) neocon would have done. He kept calm without reacting to the several initial provocations and probably hoping that the US and its allies would be just intelligent enough to simply not cross the red line. Unfortunately they weren’t.
An obsolete NATO dangerously revived the cold war and increased polarization in Europa
And here we are three decades later, with an obsolete NATO that, instead of being dissolved as a reply to Grobachov’s one-sided first initiative to end the cold war by dissolving the Warsaw pact, chose to break agreements and even cross the ultimate red line leading to a revival of the cold war and stupidly generating a new and dangerous polarisation in Europa. It’s generally known that the US does not care about this at all as elegantly expressed by USAmerica’s top ‘diplomate’ (!) for Europa Victoria Nuland in her overly famous: “Fuck the EU” statement.
Had we had some real politician anywhere in the European Commission or as leader of any European country they would have stopped this insane USAmerican provocation at the root and possibly could have proven the EU really to be an examplary and prosperous model of peace-making and keeping as was the original intention when our beloved COMMUNITY was created. Unfortunately, exactly in the same period, Europa lost that peace-making character when it was degraded from a COMMUNITY for the people to this current lame ‘common’ MARKET (sold as “Union”) only suited for banks, corporations and corrupt war-mongering politicians. It is essential for ourselves as European citizens and for world peace that we too, in our own particular way, engage in Making Europa Great Again, MEGA.
