Are the vaccins safe, Bill?

A well known viral video from december 2020 in a CBSN interview with Norah O’Donnell.
The nervous and confused way in which Bill Uhhh Gates tries to explain the vaccines are safe is hillarious but sad at the same time.

To the simple question “Are these vaccines safe?”
Without his “uhhhs” Gates replies: “The FDA, not being pressured, will look hard at that.”

“Will look hard at that” what does that mean, they haven’t looked YET???
and “not being pressured” why does he feel the need to specify that?? Does that mean “let them take their time… (undefined)”??

The whole rest is even more difficult to understand what he actually wants to say.
But in any case… no straight answer.
