NOS interview with Julian Assange 2011 – FULL and HONEST (EN►NL)

NOS correspondent Arjen van der Horst in conversation with Julian Assange about WikiLeaks, the Netherlands and the US. Full and honest interview.

A long, long time ago, when your grandfather was still a teenager, like you are now, the news on Dutch national TV was still quite objective, open and honest. I know it’s hard for you to imagine right now, but it’s true. And it was like that in many other European countries, EVEN in the first ten or twenty years after our promising European Community for the people was degraded to an ordinairy, homogenized and fully comercialized Market for greedy banks, faceless corporations and corrupt politicians who wanted to please those on the other side of the Atlantic.

In those times NOS and other European TV channels were still somewhat serious and unbiased. They sometimes showed full interviews (WOW!) where they allowed the people to finish talking and to give full answers without interrupting them, without a planned script to favor some dominating narrative and without afterwards cutting out the parts they did not want the public to see or to know about.

Since it’s so hard to believe I give you this full version to see, but if you prefer you can start with the extract version.

By the way, they were well done, those old-fashioned human-made Dutch subtitles, weren’t they? Much more comfortable to read and understand than most subtitles nowadays, made in an artificial way, isn’t it? That too has been pushed by those on the other side of the Atlantic…
